Product Description: Raja Yoga: A Guide for Personal Practice consists of Yoga sequences that encapsulate a lifetime of home/personal Yoga practice. These sequences help develop, sustain, and deepen one's practice at every level - beginning to advanced. The DVD has 4 separate Yoga sequences (like taking 4 complete classes with BK at 4 different levels); 1)Introductory - 34min, 2)Beginning - 38min, 3)Intermediate - 44min, 4)Advanced - 47min. The DVD also has two interviews with BK; History and Philosophy of Yoga, and How to Use the DVD. Finally, each yoga sequence offers the option of listening to instructions and/or music from contemplative traditions (Bamboo flute, Sitar, Viola, and Cello). *********************************************************************************** Teacher Biography - Bidyut (BK) Bose first learned Yoga from his father as a child, then later with monks in the Himalayas, and with Sri Monotosh Chaudhuri (a disciple of Yogindra Bishnu Ghosh, the younger brother of Paramhansa Yogananda). A teacher's teacher, Bidyut's classes are an exercise in mindfulness, facilitating deep introspection while gently building flexibility, endurance, balance, and strength. His teaching style is both invigorating and challenging, while deeply relaxing and restoring. A long-time student of Indian Philosophy and world religions, and a classical musician, he earned his Ph.D. in Computer Science from U.C. Berkeley. His current research interests include the science of flexibility and the mechanisms of aging, and the scientific application of Yoga therapeutics to common chronic conditions. ************************************************************************************** Niroga Institute - A Center for Integral Health, founded by Bidyut K. Bose, is a non-profit dedicated to providing affordable, high-quality Yoga instruction and Yoga therapy to individuals and families who have been underserved.
